[ GW-TE-001 ] Beijing-Xi'an-Lhasa-Gyanze-Xigaze-Shanghai (12 Day)
Day 1 Arrive Beijing Arrive Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China. Meet your guide upon arrival and transfer to your comfortable hotel. (D)
Day 2 Beijing Begin the day with a visit to Tiananmen Square, the world largest. Move on to the Imperial Palace, also known as the "Forbidden City" that symbolizes the imperial and traditional China. After lunch, you will go to visit the enchanting Summer Palace, one of China's largest and best-preserved imperial gardens. (B-L-D)
Day 3 Beijing Today's highlight is your visit to the Great Wall, symbol of Chinese civilization. Return to the city and visit Temple of Heaven, the place where the emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for peace and harvest.(B-L-D)
Day 4 Beijing-Xian Fly to Xi'an, a famous ancient capital, to view the 2,200-year-old terracotta warriors of China's first Emperor, Qin Shihuang. After lunch, visit Shaanxi History Museum and you will stop and climb on the ancient city wall. Enjoy a dumpling dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Hotel. (B-L-D)
Day 5 Xian-Lhasa Fly to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, by air via Xining or Chengdu. Upon arrival, transferred to Hotel. Rest of the day is free for you to get accustomed to the Tibetan climate and altitude. (B-D)
Day 6 Lhasa Today, you will go to visit the sacred Jokhang Monastery, a 1,300-year old golden-roofed shrine. Out of the Jokhang, you are right in the center of fascinating Barkhor area, lined with the stalls of an outdoor market selling all kinds of goods. (B-L-D)
Day 7 Lhasa Today's highlight is a visit to the architectural and religious wonders of the Potala Palace. In the afternoon, we will pay a visit to the Sera Monastery, located a few miles to the north of Lhasa. Enjoy a Tibetan Song & Dance Performance after dinner. (B-L-D)
Day 8 Lhasa-Gyanze-Xigaze Drive 265km from Lhasa to Gyantse. Pass Yamdroktso See (the holy lake) and the Karola Glacier. The Kumbum Pagoda in the Polcho Monastery is a spectacular architecture of the 15th century. Arrive Xigaze in the evening. (B-L-D)
Day 9 Xigaze-Lhasa Xigatze is the Tibet's second largest city. Visit to Panchen Lama's home, the Tashilumpo Monastery, built in 1447, which is a mystical assembly of gold, red and white, where you can see monks at prayer. (B-L-D)
Day 10 Lhasa-Shanghai Take a morning flight to Shanghai via Chengdu. Check in Hotel. Take a stroll on the Bund, a splendid row of early 20th century European buildings. Enjoy an exciting acrobatic show in the evening. (B-D)
Day 11 Shanghai Visit Suzhou-style Yuyuan Garden and walk through the Old Town filled with antique markets and specialty stores. The focus of today's exploration is Shanghai Museum, a leading attraction of the city since it opened in 1994. Later, wander around the former French Concession. You will have some free time in the afternoon to explore the city by your own. Enjoy a farewell dinner at hotel tonight. (B-L-D)
Day 12 Shanghai-Home Transfer to the airport and board your homebound flight. Arrive in your country on the same day. (B)
