Yellow Dragon Cave
Yellow Dragon Cave was discovered by local villagers in 1983 and opened to tourists in 1984. Some tourists thought of the cave as the most beautiful in China.
It is a very large limestone cave, occupying an area of 100,000 square meters. The length of the cave is 7.6 kilometers and the height is 140 meters. It comprised of two drought stores and two wet stores, two underground rivers, four waterfalls, 13 caverns and 10,000 stalagmites and stalactites.
The Cavern can be divided into two parts. One is the dry cave, and the other is the water cave. Even in the
Yellow Dragon Cavern, there are caves inside caves, and one cave may lead to many others. Sometimes there are caves under the ground too. Stalactites, stalagmites, stone blossoms, stone curtains, stone branches, stone canals, stone pearls, and stone macrospores can be seen here and there in the cavern, which constitutes a fantastic yet natural scene.
The features of the Yellow Dragon Cavern can be summarized into six sentences. First, it features numerous mysterious caves. Second, it boasts to be one of the largest of the karst caverns in China. Third, the limestone in the cavern is a variety of fantastic shapes. Fourth, the limestone here is colorful, glittering and translucent. Fifth, the limestone and the water here sometimes give out attractive sounds, like music from heaven. Finally, boating is possible in the under streams in the cavern.
The Yellow Dragon Cave is so complex and unfathomable, possessing such a multitude of geological features, that it's impossible for us to take them all in at one time. This "magical place" abounds with all the sceneries that we can enjoy in the karst caves and the stalagmites are in all different shapes.
Many famous scenic spots have been developed: the Dragon Dance Hall, Sounding River, Immortal Waterfall, Heaven Pillar Street, and the Dragon Palace. Among all stalactites in the Yellow Dragon Cave, the most miraculous are Ding Hai Shen Zhen and Long Wang Bao Zuo. Ding Hai Shen Zhen stands 19.2 meters high at a diameter of 10 cm.
