Splendid China
Splendid China is a comprehensive miniature park reflecting the history, culture, art, ancient architecture, and customs and habits of various nationalities in China. It is situated by the Shenzhen Bay in a tourist area of Oversea Chinese Town (OCT) in Shenzhen, Special Economic Zone of China.
Splendid China is one of the world's largest scenery parks in the amount of scenarios reproduced. The park is developed and managed by the major travel and tourist corporation, China Travel Services.
Spreading over an area of 30 hectares, over 100 major tourist attractions have been miniaturized and laid out according to the map of China. Most attractions have been reduced on a scale of 1:15. It is divided into Scenic Spot Area and Comprehensive Service Area.
Here you can see replicas of many of the most famous Chinese buildings and landmarks and a great deal of attention has been paid to detail so
as to ensure the miniatures truly represent their originals. This has entailed making full use of the services of architectural specialists and landscape experts who are actively engaged with research and conservation at the actual sites that have been replicated here.
There are cars and trains to transport visitors around the park, making it possible to visit the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Three Gorges Dam, Potala Palace and the Terracotta Warriors in one day. It enables you to have the vision of skimming through the Chinese history at every step and touring around China in one day.
Here, the focus is on miniature Chinese sites, intended to reflect the history, culture, art, ancient architecture and customs and habits of various nationalities in China in a display of some of China's most famous sites and life sized pottery animals and figures. The park also hosts several shows depicting various events in Chinese History, Chinese Cultural Show, etc. Some of the shows are only performed on weekends.
There is also a traditional shopping street with an endless array of handicrafts and antiques and a restaurant area offering traditional cuisine from throughout the country.
