The incredible Jin Mao Building, which located in the center of Lujiazui Finance and Trade Districts in Pudong, is the tallest building in China, the second tallest in Asia, and is currently the third tallest building in the world.
The Jin Mao building is designed by US architectural firm Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and was built by the Shanghai Jian Gong Group. The architect, Adrian D. Smith, of this skyscraper ingeniously combined the elements of traditional Chinese culture with the newest architectural styles of the time, which makes Jin Mao Tower one of the best-constructed buildings in China. It is impressive from wherever you are in the city and when you are right next to it.
The 88-stories Jin Mao Tower was completed in 1999. It is 420.5 meters (almost 1380 feet) tall and covers an area of 2.3 hectares (5.68 acres). It is a superb design, architects designed the building around the theme of the Chinese pagoda and the number eight. The lowest segment of the building is sixteen stories high and each succeeding segment is 1/8th smaller than its predecessor.
With an east-meets-west design signifying Shanghai's emergence as a modern global city, Jin Mao follows the multi-use paradigm, it includes modern offices, a deluxe 5-star hotel - the Grand Hyatt Shanghai, exhibition halls, banquet halls, an observation deck, and entertainment facilities.

There is a viewing platform up on the 88th floor,
which can hold 1000 people at any one time. The building has the best elevators available. Two direct elevators operate at the speed of 9.1 meters (nearly 30 feet) per second that can send visitors from the ground floor to the 88th floor for only 45 seconds. If you don't suffer from vertigo, you can enjoy unbeatable views over the city.
the incredible design make the Jin Mao one of the most spectacular and already most famous sites not just in Shanghai, but throughout China. And it is a fitting symbol of new Shanghai too; young, vibrant and inspirational.
