Nanping Village
Nanping Village, located in the southwest part of Yixian county, is a town with broad scales and a thousand years history.
Naning Village features well-preserved ancestral halls, it still preserved 300 ancient buildings of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Strolling in the village, you'll be surprised to find how simple and old-fashioned the village is. Wherever you go, you'll see the well-preserved ancient houses with white walls and grey tiles. Inside the courtyard, your eyesight will be caught by the traditional ornaments of the household: stone- carved windows, wood-carved beams and columns. Outside the yard, walking along the stone-paved path, you will soon lose yourself in the maze-liked winding lanes.
Nanping Village features assembling families and their ancestral temples. These ancestral temples arrange in order along a 200-meter-long
axes in this village. Both magnificent and small and exquisite are composed of a unusual ancient ancestral temple complex. They are “museums” for modern people to realize the feudalism patriarchal clan system in ancient China.
"Kuiguang Hall", "Xuzhi Hall" are magnificent halls, while "Shensi Hall" and "Bingling Hall" are simple, elegant dwelling houses. In "Wang Song Ling", ancient trees line up to the sky, ancient bridge lies down silently. There are seventy-two ancient alleys, crossing one after another within walls and buildings, this is a place with mysterious atmosphere. On the southern part of the village is the famous Mt. Linli, where was battlefield during the Three Kingdom Period.
In recent years, the "Tao's Genealogy " was found near the village, which confirmed that the Tao Yuanming's descendants had indeed moved to Nanping Village and lived in this area. This discovery had inflicted the curiosity of local and foreign tourists to come to Nanping Village to experience the beauty and tranquility of the "Home In Wonderland".
Traditional style houses, old-fashioned decorations inside and winding small lanes stringing every household of the whole village are the main features of Nanping, which is the reason why lots of traditional Chinese films, among them is Judou, an internationally renowned film that direct by Zhang Yimou, chose Nanping as scenes on location.
