Ocean Park
Ocean Park Hong Kong, embedded in the southern corner of Hong Kong Island, is one of the world's most famous theme parks. This popular theme park also serves the purposes of education and environmental preservation. It covers an area of 880.000 square meters.
The park, ranked 7th in 'The World’s Most Popular Amusement Parks’ by Forbes in June 2006,
and also ranked 16th in the TEA/ERA Theme Park Attendance Report 2007 with approximately 4.9 million visitors, higher than Hong Kong Disneyland at 21st place with 4.1 million visitors. The different parts of the park are connected by a gondola lift system (or cable car system), as well as the world's second longest outdoor escalator.
Ocean Park Hong Kong comprises two sections, the Head land and Lowland. In Headland, visitors
may enjoy the thrill and diversiform facilities, including the Dragon, Eagle, Mine Train, and Abyss Turbo Drop, Crazy Galleon, Flying Swing, Raging River, Ferris Wheel, Ocean Park Tower and Space Wheel. An extremely exciting and funning experience is waiting for everyone.
At Lowland, visitors can catch a ride on the balloon that will soar 100 meters into the air in SkyFair. Visitors can also meet the giant pandas in lowland. Other attractions such as Amazing Amazon, Amazing Birds Theatre and Kid's World are the best place for family visitors. Besides being an amusement park, Ocean Park Hong Kong also operates observatories, well developed laboratories, an education department and a Whales And Dolphins Fund.
Ocean Park Hong Kong was the first institution in the world to have success in artificial insemination of bottle nose dolphins, and developed numerous new breeds of goldfish.
Every year, more than four million people visit the Ocean Park Hong Kong. Among them, 30,000 school children in Hong Kong have the cheerful trip in the park and learn about animals.
