Qianling Park



Qianling ParkQianling Park is located on Qianling Mountain, northwest of Guiyang. It is named after Mt. Qianling which was awarded the title of ' the First Mountain in South China'

It takes the name from the Qianling Mountain in the park, which is the most famous mountain in southern Guizhou. As one of the noted gardens on the Guizhou plateau, it boasts clear waters, green mountains, tranquil forests and old temples.

More than 500 energetic and enchanting macaques live in the mountain in the park. There are eight predominant scenic locations: Sanlingwan, Macaque Garden, Hongfu Temple, Kylin Cave, the Zoo, Qianling Lake, the Wind-Rain Bridge, and the Winding Mountain Path.

The Hongfu Temple on the mountain which was built in the early Qing Dynasty is one of the famous temples located in Guizhou province. At the foot of the mountain, there is a road called "jiuqujing" which winds to the monastery along which you can see ancient characters, pictures and carvings on the steep cliff while macaque jump here and there. From the "Kanzhu Pavilion" and " Wangcheng Tower" on the top of the mountain, one can get a bird's eye view of the whole city.

More than 1,500 kinds of trees, flowers and plant sand over 1,000 kinds of rare medicinal herbs naturally grew on the mountain. Rhesus monkeys and various birds perch there in groups. There are 200 Qiling caves and Qianling Lake found here. It was in Qiling cave that Zang Xueliang and Yanghucheng, two famous Anti-Japanese War heroes and patriotic generals, were once kept in captivity. In order to assure the safety and arouse the interest of tourists, 500 meters long "Qianling cable way" was built leading from the foot of the mountain to "Kanzhu Pavilion". At the foot of the mountain is the blue ripple Qianling Lake. There is a zoo in the park. The vestige of glacier of the Quaternary period can be found here. This is a multi-functional park suitable for touring.

Qianling Park, with 98% of forest cover, is the perfect habitat for macaques. More than 500 of them live in the Macaque Garden. Energetic and enchanting, they jump and frolic here and there, attracting a lot of visitors. Out of the big cities in China, it is only Guiyang that has such a large garden for monkeys.
