Yuexiu Park
Yuexiu Park, named after Yuexiu Mountain, built in 1952, is the biggest comprehensive sight-seeing park in Guangzhou. It lies on Mountain Yue Xiu and other six little mountains. The park has five man-made lakes. There are a great many beautiful views and historical relics in the park . It is a large comprehensive park with a long history in Guangzhou.
All year round you can enjoy the verdant grass, trees and flowers and hear the songs of birds. Not only is the park well known for its beautiful natural surroundings, but also charms the inquisitive with its many antiques. Although increasingly modern constructions have appeared in Guangzhou these years, the antique park still attracts many local people to have sports and rests there. The ancient construction made this park a famous scenic spot and have visitors from all over the world.

Travelers can spend hours exploring its paths, dotted with elaborately engraved, Lingnan-style pavilions, platforms and towers, and stop by the rippling waters of the three lakes to relax. It's grand flower exhibition every spring and autumn attracts millions of tourists.
Besides the splendid natural wonders in Yuexiu Park, there are many famous scenic sites from different historical periods successfully decorating the park, such as the well-known "Statue of the Five Goats", Zhenhai Tower, the Ancient City Wall of the Ming Dynasty, Sifang Emplacement, Zhongshan Monument. Legend has it that more than 2,000 years ago, Guangzhou was a barren land with people who despite hard work were suffering from famine. One day five immortals in five-color garments came riding on five rams, playing their legendary music. The rams held sheaves of rice in their mouths. The immortals left the sheaves of rice for the Guangzhou people, gave blessings to the city and left. The rams turned into stone and the city of Guangzhou became a rich and populous place. Guangzhou got the name of the City of Rams and the City of Ears.
