Ningxia is called the Home of Moslem in China with the strong Islamic custom and it is praised as the
"Lush Southern – type Fields North of the Great Wall” and the “Rich Bend of the Huanghe River".
Up to now there are the canals dug in the Qin, Han, and Tang Dynasties. The interesting thing is the
sheepskin raft, two of which one can carry. The West Xia Mausoleums, the state – level scenic zone,
include 9 imperial mausoleums and over 140 subordinate tombs, which are called the China’s
pyramids. The Mt. Helan Crag Paintings and the 108 – Buddha Pagodas are all charm. The forceful
and magnificent natural scenery in Ningxia includes Mt. Helan, Mt. Liupan and Tengri Desert. They are
favourable for the mountaineering tour, desert tour, forest tour, and hunting safari. Lake Shahu is one
of the 35 crack scenic spots in China. Besides there are the Jinghe River Scenic Area, the
Zhenbeibao’s West China Film – TV Center, the Jinshui Tourist Area, and Xixia Film – TV Center.

Shapotou is the investigation and studying place for bringing the desert under control.
