Shijiazhuang Hebei Province
Shijiazhuang is the capital of Hebei Province in the north of China and an important railway junction. The town, sheltered on the west by the Taihang Mountains, is modern and well planned.
Shijiazhuang is located in the temperate zone, enjoying the continental climate, four seasons clearly demarcated with cold winter and hot summer. The landform of shijiazhuang is higher in the west and lower east, dotted with lakes and the urban district with smooth terrain.
Cotton is raised in large areas near the town and throughout the Hebei Province, and Shijiazhuang has development onto one of the major textile – processing centers in China. It has numerous plants engaged in chemical production, machine building, and light industry.
The folk handicrafts are bright and colorful and have a long history. The local operas and acrobatics are noted at home and abroad. The local and special products here are plentiful.
Shijiazhuang itself is of little interest to tourist. The tome of Dr. Norman Bethune is in the Cemetery of Martyrs in the town.
