
Jinan is the capital of Shandong, located in the mid west of Shandong, on the southern
bank of the Yellow River, north of the famous Mt. Tai, was known as Lixia during the
Warring States Period and has been the prefectural seat since the Jin Dynasty. It is a
historical city with a history of about 2000 years, and it is the cradle of the Longshan Relics
Culture, the reputed prehistoric culture of China.
The city is renowned for the scenic Daming Lake and for four groups of springs – the
Baotu, Black Tiger, Pearl, and Five Dragons. Places of historical interest include the
Longshan Culture remains, the Dragon and Tiger Pagoda of the Tang Dynasty and the
Thousand – Buddha Hill, these scenery decorate Jinan as a Garden City.
