Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang Province, the center of Heilongjiang’s political, economic, educational and cultural life, covers an area of nearly 7000 square kilometers.
Harbin is a beautiful city with many scenic spots. Lying on the east of the Songnen Plain, the Songhua River runs from east to west though the city. In additional, Harbin plays a vital role in communications between South and North Asia as well as the regions of Europe and the Pacific Ocean.
Harbin has rich cultural heritages, the St. Sofia Orthodox Church and Zhongyan Dajie each build in a European style have the effect of bringing you into an “east Moscow”. You will love the European style street.
Harbin is favored with beautiful natural scenery too. In summer, green trees lines both banks giving pleasant shades. On the southern bank is the Stalin Park overlooking the Sun Island. Both are well – known summer resorts for Harbin people as well as people from other part of China. There are some other scenic spots, such as the Children’s Park with its miniature railway, the Harbin Zoo, etc. In winter, clad in white and presenting a typical north China scene, the city looks enchanting. The Harbin Ice and Snow Festival and various ice – sports give unique beauty to the winter city.
