Fuzhou Fujian Province
Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province, the famous historical and cultural city, has a wall built in the Han Dynasty and extended in later dynasties. It began engaging in overseas trade in
the Han Dynasty and was a ship – building center in the Song Dynasty and one of China's
five important commercial ports in modern times. Because of its long and flourishing history, there are many arts related industries represented, including the Three Treasures of Fuzhou (lacquer work, stone sculpting and cork cutting), a featured dining culture, and also traditional arts including Min Opera, etc.
Fuzhou has a year-round warm and humid climate, it is hospitable in all seasons for travelers, especially between April and November. Fuzhou's hot springs are known throughout China, and so is its jasmine tea.
This coastal city boasts both natural and manmade sights. Tourist attractions included the Audience Hall of the Hualin Temple built in the Song Dynasty, the Chongfu Temple, the Birds’ Tower, the White Tower and the Kaiyuan Temple. On the Gushan Hill outside the city proper are the Welling Spring Temple and stone carvings on cliffsides left from several dynasties, an also many former residences of celebrated historical figures. You may find that there are far too many things to see here in one short trip.
