Chengdu     Sichuan Province


Located in the center of Chengdu Plain, Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province
(Heavenly State). It is abundant in natural resources, talented people and places of
historical interest and scenic beauty.

For nearly 2500 years, it has been the economic and cultural center of the province. Long
noted for its brocade industry, Chengdu was named Jincheng or the Brocade City in the
Eastern Han Dynasty. When the people of the Brocade City discovered that the brocade
became brighter and fresher after they washed it in the local river, they named it the
Jinjiang or the Brocade River.

The traditional industries of Chengdu includes gold, silver, silk which have helped to make
this city one of the most important centers of commerce in China. In addition, Chengdu plays important role in terms of education and
culture in China, which has no doubt been helped this modernization of this city.

Chengdu has a number of historical and cultural background featuring historic places of interest such as the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu,
Wuhou Memorial Temple, and Wenshu Monastery. And from here it is convenient for you to go and visit the Memorial Temple of the
Three Su’s in Meishan County and the grand Dujiangyan irrigation works in Dujiangyan City. Besides, the Chengdu Panda Breeding
and Research Center, support the world’s only giant panda breeding and research base.
