Yunnan is the province with most minority ethnic groups in China. The customs of the 25 minority ethnic groups are quite different. The province is located on the southwest of border. So the border tour is of a unique style. The province’s natural outlook is magnificent with high mountains and deep valleys. There are 9 snow – capped mountains including Mt. Yulong. The province includes 10 state – listed scenic zones, 17 national forest parks, 5 national nature reserves, 5 state – listed famous cultural and historic cities., and 17 national key relics protection units. They form 5 tourist zones with Kunming as ite center. The Central Yunnan Tourist Zone includes Kunming which climate is mild and which is noted as “te Spring City” and “the Flower City”, the Lake Dianchi National Resort Zone, the West Hill, Qiongzhu Temple, Fengqiang Garden, and the Lunan Stone Forest. The Northwest Yunnan Tourist Zone with Dali and Lijiang as its center includes Mt. Cangshan, Lake Erhai, Bai Ethnic Custom, Lijiang Naxi Ethnic Group Culture, Yulong Snow Mountain, Lake Lugu Ethnic Custom left by the matriarchal society. The West Yunnan Tourist Zone with Baoshan and Dehong as its centre includes Tengchong’s marvellous natural phenomenon of terrestrial heat and volcano and Ruili scenery. The South Yunnan Tourist Zone with Xishuangbanna as its center includes Dai Ethnic Custom and the Sino – Myanmar Border tour. The Southeast Yunnan Tourist Route with Jianshui, Pingbian and Hekou as its axis includes the Red River Scenery and the human custom bordering on Viet Nam. The festivals of the minority ethnic groups include Water – Sprinkling Festival, Tea King Festival, and Sanyuesan Ethnic Carnival.
