Sichuan was noted as the “Land of Abundance”. It is rich in tourist resource. There are 2 world natural heritages, 1 world natural and cultural heritage, 13 state – listed scenic zones, 8 state – listed famous cultural and historic cities, 33 national key relics protection units, and 12 national forest park. The layout is “one center and four tourist zones”. The “one center” is the Chengdu Tourist Center with the features of “the Native Place of Pandas”, “the Noted Cultural City”, and “the Sichuan Cuisine Culture”. The “four tourist zones” include the Northwest Sichuan Plateau Wonderful Mountains & Rivers Tourist Zone(Jiuzhaigou, the Huanglong world heritage and the Hailuogou Glacier), the Leshan Buddhist Tourist Zone(Leshan State of Buddha and Mt. Emei, one of the four noted Buddhist mountains), the South Sichuan Tourist Zone(Zigong’s museum of dinosaur, well salt, lanterns and the South Sichuan Bamboo Sea), the Panxi’s Dual – Structure Scenic Zone(Xichang Satellite Launching Site, Ertan Power Station, Lake Lugu Ethnic Custom left by the matriarchal society and the Yi Ethnic Custom). The main tourist route include Chengdu – Mt. Qingcheng – Dujiangyan Route, Jiuzhaigou – Huanglong Route, Mt. Qingcheng – Mt. Emei Religious Tourist Route, Panda – Watching Route, and the Three Kindom Tourist Route. The tourist festivals include the Chengdu’s Panda Festival, Zigong’s Dinosaur Lantern Festival, Leshan Statue of Buddha Festival, and Liangshan Torch Day.

Chengdu, also known as Rongcheng and jincheng, is capital of Sichuan Province. Among this famed historical and cultural city's historical sites are Marquis of Wu's Temple dedicated to Zhuge Liang, prime minister of Shu of Three Kingdoms Period; Thatched Cottage, where the celebrated Tang poet, Du Fu, lived during his stay in Chengdu; famous Buddhist sanctuaries, such as Baoguang, Zhaojue, manjusri, and Daci temples; Qingyanggong, the best preserved memorial temple for Lao Zi, father of Taoism; Tomb of Wang Jian; and Wangjiang Tower. The giant panda breeding center of Chengdu is a must for panda-loving visitors. Chengdu's restaurants serving Sichuanese cuisine and refreshments, and teahouses hold forth the fascination of local mores. Sichuan brocade, embroidery and lacquer ware are famous souvenirs. with its trademark grimacing skills and uncanny sense of humour, Sichuan Opera is a major branch of the Chinese theatre.
