Guangxi is Chinas low laititudes province and the world beautiful mountains and rivers zone. The four distinctive features of the tourist landscapes are: (1) the landforms of karst everywhere, especially along the Guilin C Yangshuo line. (2) the simple and unsophisiticated ethnic custom of the minority ethnic groups including Zhuang, Miao,Yao and Dong. (3) the Beihai Sliver Beach is praised as Chinas first beach and South Beidaihe, it becomes the national seashore resort. (4) the border tourism zone. The tourist center cities include Guilin, Liuzhou, Nanning and Beihai. The North Guilin Zone with Guilin as its center is the Gold Tourist Place. Besides the three mountains and two caves, it adjoins the Qin Xingan Canal, Longsheng Hot Spring and Longji Terrece, Maoershan primeval forest, and Gongcheng ancient architecture. The Middle Guangxi Zone with Liuzhou as its center adjoins the Shuibei River, and the Sanjiangs Miao & Dong Ethnic Custom District. The South Guangxi Zone includes Nanning, Beihai, Qinzhou and
Fangcheng, and beach and border passes. They are located in the subtropical zone with subtropical scenery. Paticularly the Beihai Sliver Beach is noted for the long beach, tiny sand, clear water, smooth sea and no shark. The East Guangxi Zone has the characteristic of historic sites and folk custom in the cities of Wuzhou and Yulin.
Capital: Nanning
Nanning is capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and a rising industrial city. Under a subtropical climate, it is a fine tourist city that is extolled as an "evergreen metropolis". This garden city has so much to offer its visitors, such as Guangxi Museum, Guangxi Ethnic Artefact Garden, and Guangxi Medical botanical Garden. Its outskirts are clustered with attractions as well. These include the Yiling Cave of Wuming County, Stone Forest and one of the world's eight major slanting pagodas in Chongzuo, the mysterious Huashan Murals in Ningming County, the waterfall that crosses the Sino-Vietnamese border in Daxin County, Friendship pass at Pingxiang, as well as the exotic folklore on the Sino-Vietnamese borderline.
