Luoyang Henan Province
The ancient city of Luoyang is known as the “Capital of Nine Dynasties”. Beginning in 770 B.C., the Eastern Zhou, the Eastern Han, the Wei of the Three Kingdom Period, the Western Jin, the Northern Wei, the Sui, the Tang, the Later Liang and the Later Tang founded their capitals here for most one thousand years. After the Five Dynasties, however, Luoyang was on the decline.
Luoyang occupies quite an important geographic location. It is in the middle reaches of the Yellow River and is encircled by mountains and plains. Luoyang today not only takes pride in being a cradle of an ancient culture, but boasts of its newly – emerging industries as well as tourist attractions and scenic spots.
Its long history endows Luoyang with a profound sense of culture, it has rich historical and cultural sites. The Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple, Luoyang Ancient Tombs Museum, Shaolin Temple and numerous other places of historic interest and scenic beauty have been renovated and kept in fine shape, more attractive to visitors than ever. Religious culture once thrived here, too. Taoism originated there and the first Buddhist
temple set up by the government was located there.Never before are the long – cherished Tang – dynasty Tri – colour Glaze Ware, inherited as of old and further sophisticated, so resplendent in their bright colours. Additional, the world – renowned Luoyang peony has been selected as the flower of the city, olden, yet in its prime, decorated with unsurpassed brilliance.
