Guangzhou Guangdong Province
Guangzhou (Canton – the old spelling) is the capital of Guangdong Province, and the center of its political, economic, scientific, educational and cultural life. It is located in the middle south of Guangdong Province, north of the Pearl River Delta, and lies close to the South China Sea, which is called China’s South Gate.
With a history of 2800 years, Guangzhou has always been a port for foreign exchanges and trade, and is still one of the largest ports in China. Here the China Export Commodities Fair is held every spring and autumn, which attracts business people from the world over.
As one of the first “open” cities in China, a large number of people from other regions of China swarmed into Guangzhou, this has accelerated its economic development. Today, Guangzhou is a modern city full of vigor. Vegetation is evergreen and flowers bloom all the year round thanks to a moist subtropical climate. There are more than 150 famed scenes and sights in Guangzhou, and a good variety of modern facilities for recreation and entertainment.
Guangzhou is a famous historical city, the points of historical interest include Zhenhai Tower, the Guangxiao Temple, Liurong Temple, Huaisheng Mosque, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and so on.
