Dalian Liaoning Province
A coastal city and one of China’s leading sea ports for foreign trade, Dalian is located on the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula. It was called Qingzhou in ancient times. The city proper covers an area of 145 square kilometers with a population of 1.3 million.
The new chapter of development in Dalian, as in most Chinese cities, began after the Cultural Revolution. Industries such as shipbuilding and petro-chemicals have also been boosted by Dalian's location and wealth. Dalian was also designated a Special Economic Zone and now attracts huge amounts of overseas investment.Arguably the most important role that Dalian has played over the years is as an important and strategic port. This feature has helped to make this one of the wealthiest and most prosperous cities in the entire country.
Dalian is well –developed in industry and agriculture. Its yields of apple and aquatic products accounts for a large proportion of China’s total output.
