Baotou Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Baotou is a major industrial and tourist city in eastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, connecting to the Tumochuan Plain in the east; the Hetao Plain in the west; the Yellow River to the south; and Mt. Daqingshan in the north.
Baotou is a temperate monsoon climate with cool and favorable summers, and it has long and cold winters.
Baotou came to become the largest in the province after the Communists came to power in 1950. The leader of the revolution were quick to take advantage of the huge quantities of iron, coal and mineral deposits that the region contains. Nowadays it is the biggest producer of iron and steel in China.
Baotou has a history of more than 6000 years, it is a city with rich cultural heritage, such as Wudangzhao Monastery, which is a large Tibetan Buddhist monastery, set in hills covered by willow trees, it is the biggest and best preserved lama monastery in Inner Mongolia. and Genghis Khan’s Mausoleum, Genghis Khan is a Mongolian hero, today he is still worshipped and remembered by his people, therefore Genghis Khan’s Mausoleum remains a sacred place with great significance for Mongolian people.
